Investment Approach
We try and ensure that our clients’ portfolios are diversified. When it is more efficient to do so, we invest directly in the markets. Often, though, we invest a proportion of the portfolio in carefully selected third-party funds.
Direct investments
| • |
We invest in the capital markets directly and without involving layers of intermediaries. This reduce costs which, in turn, helps optimize returns for the investor |
| • |
Our investment decisions are thoroughly studied and never taken in haste. In our experience, “rushed” investment decisions are less likely to be successful |
| • |
There are four key stages in our investment process: |
1. Research & Evaluation
| |
• |
The most significant part of our time goes into identifying investments with good potential for increasing our clients’ wealth. We do this through a combination of macro-economic considerations, fundamental research and technical analysis. |
| |
• |
Once a potential investment opportunity has been identified, we monitor it actively for some time before deciding whether to invest or not |
2. Investment Timing
| |
• |
Once we have made the decision to invest, we time the investment with the aim of obtaining most attractive prices. |
3. Efficiency of Execution
| |
• |
We have invested enormous amounts of time and effort in identifying execution strategies which are both cost effective and efficient |
| |
• |
We have access to investment techniques that provide the opportunity to potentially create value even at times of market declines |
4. Downside Limitation
| |
• |
We often utilize the concept of “stop losses” on individual transactions, ensuring there is a “floor” below which the value of our investments should not fall
|
Investing Through Third-Party Funds
| • |
When we believe this to be in their best interest, we invest our clients’ assets in a number of carefully selected mutual funds. Our decade-long experience in the international fund industry enables us to identify and have access to the “best of breed” funds that are either not easily visible or readily accessible to private individuals |
